The Department of Paediatrics is a small and friendly unit that is embedded within Addenbrooke’s hospital. Research undertaken in our Department includes both clinical trials as well as translational basic research projects.
Paediatrics is primarily a post-graduate discipline. However the Department is very involved in teaching undergraduate medical students who all receive Paediatric experience through their placements in hospitals and in the community. We are keen to encourage doctors and researchers to go on to specialise in Paediatrics and there are opportunities for undergraduates, clinicians and post-graduate researchers to work with us.

Cambridge University Paediatrics Society
The Cambridge University Paediatrics Society (CUPS) is run by clinical medical students, with the support of Addenbrooke’s’ senior Paediatricians. The 3 core aims of the society are:
1. Encourage paediatrics as a career among the medical student cohort
2. Provide opportunities for discussion, learning, and training in paediatrics
3. Give back to the community through charity fundraisers through our own projects

Cambridge Black Medics Society
Formed by a team of current and past Cambridge medics, Cambridge Black Medics Society (CBMS) strives to address racial equality in the medical profession through our 3 veins:
1. By working closely with the Clinical School and medical departments to diversify medical education and make it more inclusive of the range of patients we will encounter.
2. By connecting past, current and prospective Cambridge medics with lecture evenings, socials and conferences held throughout the year.
3. By providing academic and pastoral guidance for our members who are current medical students at Cambridge.
