Jake is a paediatric registrar with an interest in genetic influences of liver fat (steatosis), insulin resistance, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). He moved to Cambridge in 2012 to undertake an Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) in the Department of Paediatrics, having graduated from Birmingham medical school with the Gold Medal and The University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Award. During his ACF, he undertook research in the MRC Epidemiology Unit, Metabolic Research Laboratories, and the Department of Paediatrics.
Jake is now continuing this research on the Wellcome Trust PhD Programme for Clinicians in the Institute of Metabolic Science. He also established, and continues to co-ordinate, the European Paediatric NAFLD Registry. Jake’s research is supported by grants from: Wellcome Trust, Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, European Society of Paediatric Research, and the European Association for the Study of the Liver.
