Young people involved in planning the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital (CCH) were delighted to meet The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they visited the CCH stand at the Cambridgeshire County Day on June 23rd 2022.
Teenagers Hannah, Olina, Alisha, Macie and Sarah spent time explaining the ground-breaking plans to integrate mental and physical health in the East of England’s first specialist children’s hospital.
Children and young people have been an integral part of the hospital project since early 2021 and have been involved in shaping the strategy and designs of the hospital. There are more than 500 members of the Cambridge Children’s Network, who have taken part in many activities, from workshops with the architects, creating videos interviewing clinicians and attending project meetings.
Cambridge Children’s Hospital, the first facility of its kind purpose-built to integrate physical-mental healthcare and research, was granted planning permission from Cambridge City Council in March 2022. The project is a partnership between Cambridge University Hospitals, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Cambridge.
