On 27th June, the Department of Paediatrics came together to discuss the correct pronunciation of the word ‘scone’ and whether the cream or the jam goes first. Although no agreement was reached, it was a good opportunity for members of the Department to enjoy some tasty treats for a good cause. One colleague commented: “alfresco cream team with colleagues and the kids get to benefit too, cool :)”
The Action Cream Tea event, organised by Action Medical Research, offered the opportunity to purchase a £6.50 box of scones, jam, cream, and tea to support research funding. Action Medical Research is a UK based charity that funds research to help save and change the lives of sick babies and children. They recently launched their flagship campaign, Born Too Soon, that funds research into premature birth and the impact it has on children and their families. Although this year’s Action Cream Tea event is now over, it occurs annually so please keep an eye out for next year’s!
