Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Our research is focused on the role of the intestinal epithelium and the microbiota of the gut in healthy patients as well as in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. We are using bioinformatics methods to analyse samples from patients taken at diagnosis as well as during routine followup; with the aim to combine multiple layers of data to help up understand the relationship between epigenetic mechanisms, gene expression, the microbiota and disease. We are currently exploring the impact of DNA methylation in regulating gene expression in purified cell subsets such as the intestinal epithelium as well as peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).
